  • This course was outstanding and packed with great information. I've taken other courses for bereavement and this one really stood out as the best. It had given me a lot of insight and the personal stories aided the learning experience.

    Elisabeth van der Wilt 12/12/23

  • This course was just what I needed in this stage of my birth doula career. Although it's more geared toward postpartum work, this really helped me solidify my approach as I have upcoming births after pregnancy loss. Vallen's style is very relaxed and personal - like sitting down with a friend over a cup of tea and discussing a tough subject matter in a way that you won't be overwhelmed.

    Annette 12/12/23

  • Vallen created a course full of heavy content and somehow made it simple to get through. The course provides both, practical and emotional, tips for navigating loss and supporting families through this challenging time. Vallen also takes time to ensure providers are taking care of themselves, which is crucial when performing in any caregiving or support role. I'd highly recommend this course to anyone work in or around Obstetrics or Labor & Delivery. This is the kind of content that can literally save a life.

    12/18/23

  • I found Vallen's course on Pregnancy Loss Education both comprehensive and holistic. This course covered everything from the different types of pregnancy loss, to supporting birthing parents in and out of the hospital to supporting families and siblings as they also navigate this grief-filled time. Vallen weaves in her own story of loss throughout the modules, and uses her own experience to humanize the course for her students. She is extremely knowledgable and compassionate, and does a great job of helping other birth workers prepare for loss. This course also includes many ready-to-use resources for birthworkers, so that we can apply what we are learning right away. I especially appreciated her self-care checklist for doulas!

    Leila Walker, 12/20/2023

  • This is a solid intro into bereavement work with lots of practical advice! You can tell that Vallen is passionate about supporting families through loss. I'm glad this resource exists as there aren't enough people doing this important work.

    Sarah Herbein, 12/28/2023

  • This course really gave me a lot to consider. I appreciate the amount of empathy and the intent put into the course. I feel like I can confidently support my clients.

    Cierra Meenachan

  • After taking the Pregnancy Loss course, I feel much more confident supporting a family through loss. I've had my own experiences with miscarriage but sometimes that's not enough to feel confident showing up and holding space for others. This program gave very practical ways to support someone. Vallen does a great job at helping you understand the mental space a family may be in, and how it may or may not be what you expect. She also does a good job recognizing men's needs and how they usually look different. I love the cheatsheets that Vallen provided as that is something I can print and put in my doula bag to have on hand. Overall I feel less scared talking about the topic and more capable of understanding and supporting a family who has gone through a pregnancy or infant loss.

Which one of these do you reasonate with when it comes to pregnancy loss?

I feel like I’m not prepared to handle the emotional toll of loss support."
Grief work can feel heavy, and if you’re worried about burnout, you’re not alone. We know that taking care of yourself is just as important as caring for others, which is why our course emphasizes self-care for professionals—teaching you how to maintain emotional resilience while supporting families through their grief.

“I want to add bereavement support to my services, but I’m not sure how to get paid for this work."
Yes, offering bereavement support is a calling, but it’s also a service that you should be compensated for. In this course, you’ll learn how to market and build a sustainable business by adding pregnancy loss care to your repertoire—ensuring that you can serve families while also building a thriving practice.

“I don’t want to be a bereavement doula, but I experienced a loss with a client and realized how unprepared I was. I want to take a training so that I am knowledgeable and prepared but I don’t want it to be a service I offer."
Absolutely! Not everyone wants to or even can handle doing this work. And that is OKAY! It is amazing that you DO know this about yourself. You DO NOT have to offer bereavement services just because you are trained in providing bereavement support. It is a skill just like being a birth doula. Taking the training makes these unfortunate and devastating circumstances less chaotic because you KNOW what needs to be done and how to get them the help they need.
