The Pregnancy Loss Training by Evelyn James and Company is very comprehensive and created with a lot of heart, understanding, and empathy by Vallen, who has experienced her own pregnancy loss. It covers topics I hadn't even considered that come into play as families navigate their grief. I feel much more prepared to support families through pregnancy loss than prior to taking the training. As a birth doula, I believe pregnancy loss training should be a required for certification, because when we do this work long term, we will inevitably experience a client's loss. Being prepared to offer the right support at this time is critical.

I am an Advanced postpartum doula & I just finished this course on Perinatal loss and the information in this course is beyond valuable. It leaves you with the understanding of the loss of a child and the grieving and mourning of such a life altering moment in time that never leaves you. What can you do as a doula? You need to be knowledgeable about your resources at hand, the rights of the parents, and to validate their thoughts and feelings. Don’t rush them to make decisions! Listen & acknowledge where they are emotionally & physically. You are there to help them process what has happened in their time with no judgement Or expectations.

I'm new to postpartum doula work. Prior to taking this course, I was dreading what I would do if I encountered pregnancy loss. Like, I had this big pit of sadness and anxiety in my stomach. I think the biggest takeaway hearing what it is like experiencing a loss and supporting a loss. And knowing that that pit in my stomach is normal and shows my compassion and empathy. I feel like I am much more full of strategies, knowledge, and passion for this work now.
