Meet Your Trainers
Vallen Webb is a Certified Postpartum & Bereavement Doula, Podcast Host of The Pregnancy and Motherhood Podcast, and founder of Evelyn James & Company — named after her daughter, who was stillborn at 40 weeks and 5 days. Her story is both the foundation and the heartbeat of this training.
Vallen’s mission is to change how we show up for loss families — to normalize grief, professionalize & personalize bereavement support, and help providers step into this sacred work with courage and compassion. You’ll walk away not only informed but empowered.
Leila Walker is a birth and postpartum birthworker and FEMM-trained fertility awareness specialist. I have been an educator my entire life and have a passion for helping people use their own skills and strengths to empower themselves, in birth and in life. I completed my doula training through Bebo Mia, am trained in the FEMM fertility management program, and am currently working on my childbirth educator training through Cornerstone Birthworker Training. I specialize in emotional, physical, and informational support for every stage of life, whether that’s navigating boundaries in the postpartum period or creating a personalized birth wishes plan to prep for labor. I believe that my compassion and focus on non-judgmental and evidence-based support help me work with any client and their specific needs.
FAQs:
Q: Is there an option for certification?
Yes. All students who complete the full training receive a Certificate of Completion, and this counts toward your Evelyn James Baby Loss Support Professional Certification if you choose to pursue it. Our lifetime certification is $149.00.
Q: Do I need to be a doula already?
Not at all. Many of our students are new to the field or come from adjacent backgrounds (nursing, therapy, peer support, etc.)
Q: Is this training inclusive?
Yes. This training centers LGBTQ+ families, BIPOC families, and diverse lived experiences. It’s rooted in love, not assumptions.
Q: I’ve experienced my own loss — is this safe for me?
We hold space for your story here. While this training is professional in focus, you are welcome to move through it in a way that honors your own journey. Vallen shares her own story throughout, and we believe grief-knowledgeable humans are the best kind.
Q: Does this training include Termination For Medical Reasons ( TFMR) or Abortion?
At Evelyn James & Company, we support all forms of pregnancy and infant loss — including miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal loss, SIDS, TFMR, abortion, ectopic pregnancy, and more.
